Wish Egan was born in Evart, Michigan and played three seasons in the Major Leagues, with Detroit and the St. Louis Cardinals. After his playing career ended he became a scout for the Detroit Tigers over the next forty plus seasons. Known as a tenacious scout, some of his player discoveries included; Hal Newhouser, Dizzy Trout, Jim Bunning, Roy Cullenbine, Hoot Evers, Johnny Lipon, Art Houtteman. Evans is also credited with having chosen the Tigers Spring Training home in Lakeland, Florida. Wish Egan was into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1960. He passed away on April 13, 1951 at 69 years of age.
