Tony Dungy was born in Jackson, Michigan and after graduating from Parkside High School went on to attend the University of Minnesota as a quarterback. After completing his college career he tried and made the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent defensive back and was a member of a Super Bowl (XIII) winning team. His playing career ended in 1979 and he went on to a very successful coaching career. After working his way up through numerous assistant and coordinator positions he became the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1996. He led the team to six mostly successful seasons making the playoffs in four of those seasons. In 2002 he accepted the head coaching position with the Indianapolis Colts and led them for seven seasons making the playoffs each year and winning Super Bowl XLI. Dungy is the only NFL coach to have defeated all 32 teams and is one of only a small number of (six, as of 2018) players to have both played for and coached a Super Bowl winning team. Dungy has been involved with many community service organizations both during and after his career. Tony Dungy was inducted into the Professional Football Hall of Fame (2016) and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
