Tom Mach
Detroit Catholic Central Football Coach (1976 – 2016)
Tom Mach was born in Detroit, Michigan and attended Sacred Heart Academy. He went on to play football at Wayne State, and after serving in the U.S. Army, became an assistant coach at Southgate Aquinas. He eventually applied for and received the head football coaching position at Detroit Catholic Central High School in 1976. Over the next 41 years he led the powerhouse high school football program to unprecedented heights, winning 370 games and 10 state championships along with sending a few hundred student-athletes on to college success. His win total ranks him third all-time in the state of Michigan. Tom Mach was inducted into the Detroit Catholic League Hall of Fame, the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame and was inducted into Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.
