Mitchell David (Mitch) Albom

Mitch Albom was born in Passaic, New Jersey and is an internationally known award-winning author, journalist, musician, screenwriter, and radio and television broadcaster. In the early years of Mitch’s career, he held a variety of jobs while he supported his writing. As a freelance writer, his articles were picked up by publications such as Sports Illustrated, GEO and The Philadelphia Inquirer. In 1985, Albom was hired as lead sports columnist for the Detroit Free Press, over the years, Albom became one of the most popular sports columnists in the country. He has won more than 200 writing awards from a variety of sources. Albom has written both sports books as well as novels. His books have sold more than 35 million copies and published in 45 languages worldwide. Many of these books have been turned into movies and stage plays. Albom is also a musician, a regular contributor to ESPN’s The Sports Reporters and has a radio show on WJR. Mitch Albom was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
