Detroit Lions Player (1950 - 1959)

Lou Creekmur was born in Hopelawn, New Jersey and attended Woodbridge High School. He moved on to the College of William & Mary and played four years around his military service. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles but was acquired by the Detroit Lions prior to the 1950 season. He played his entire ten-year career with the Lions, helping them win three NFL Championships during the 1950’s. He played in eight consecutive Pro Bowl games and was voted a first team All-Pro six times in his career. From 1950 until 1958 Creekmur played in 165 consecutive Lions games playing through multiple injuries. Lou Creekmur was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. He passed away on July 5, 2009 at 82 years of age.
