Lomas Brown was born in Miami, Florida and excelled at football for Miami Springs High School being named to the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) “All-Century Team” in 2007. Brown went on to attend the University of Florida where he was a captain, first team All-SEC, and a first-team All-American in 1984 and in 2006 was named the No. 8 all-time Gator player. The Detroit Lions selected Lomas with the sixth overall pick in the 1985 NFL Draft and his NFL career covered 18 seasons, the first 11 with the Lions. He played with four other teams over the next seven seasons. He was a Super Bowl champion (XXXVII), a seven time Pro Bowl participant, three time first team All-Pro, and a four time All-NFC player among many other awards. He was known for his longevity and consistency as he started 251 of the 263 games he played during his NFL career. Lomas Brown was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
