Flint Powers Catholic High School Girls Basketball Coach (1976 – 2006)
Kathy McGee was born in Flint, Michigan and attennded Elkton-Pigeon Bay Port High School in Pigeon, Michigan graduating as the school’s all-time leading basketball scorer. After graduating from Central Michigan University, she embarked on a basketball coaching career at Flint Powers Catholic High School that would span 31 years from 1976 to 2006. At the time of her retirement, McGee’s career included 599 wins (the most in state history), four state championships, 13 Regional and 20 District Championships as well as 18 Conference titles. McGee coached around a dozen players who went onto D-I colleges including 1991’s Michigan's Miss Basketball honoree. McGee was named the National High School Coach of the Year in 2001 by the National Federation of High School Coaches and earned the same award from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in 2002. In 2002 she was inducted into both the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Hall of Fame and Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame. Kathy McGee was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2016.
