Jalen Rose was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Southwestern High School playing for coach Perry Watson. Recruited to the University of Michigan as part of a freshman class called the “Fab Five”, Rose and his teammates went on to play in two consecutive NCAA Championship games (1992, 1993). Following an outstanding three-year career at Michigan, Rose was selected 13th overall by the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the 1994 NBA draft. Rose played with 6 teams over a 13-year NBA career, helping lead the Indiana Pacers to three straight Eastern Conference finals series. After his retirement following the 2007 season, Jalen transitioned into the broadcast booth. Rose has been recognized by the Detroit News with a Michiganian of the Year award for his excellence, courage and philanthropy to help the metropolitan Detroit area and Michigan in general. In addition, Jalen has also been awarded with the 11th Annual National Civil Rights Museum Sports Legacy Award for his contributions to civil and human rights. Jalen Rose was inducted to the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
