Herbert Anthony (Herb) Adderley
Michigan State Football Player (1958 – 1960)
Herb Adderley was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and attended Northeast High School where he starred in baseball, basketball, and football. He moved on to Michigan State where he starred in football as a two-way player for the Spartans, he was selected as the number 12 overall pick by the Green Bay Packers in the 1961 NFL draft. Adderley starred for the Packers, helping them win five NFL Championships and the first two Super Bowls. After nine seasons he moved on to the Dallas Cowboys, where he won a third Super Bowl. During his career, he was named to the Pro Bowl five times, a four-time All-Pro and was named to the NFL 1960’s All-Decade Team and the All-Michigan State University team in 1970. Herb Adderley was inducted into the MSU Athletics Hall of Fame, the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980 and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1996. He passed away on October 30, 2020 at 81 years of age.
