Greg Kelser was born in Panama City, Florida, his family eventually settled in Detroit and he attended Henry Ford High School. Kelser had an outstanding four-year career at Michigan State where he helped lead the Spartans to the 1979 NCAA National Championship earning All-American honors. He was the first Big Ten player to score over 2,000 points and collect 1,000 rebounds, he was also honored as a two-time Academic All-American. He had his #32 jersey retired by the Spartans. Kelser was selected by the Detroit Pistons as the fourth overall selection in the first round of the 1979 NBA draft. During his 5+ year NBA career, Kelser played with four teams. Greg Kelser was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
