Grant Hill

Detroit Pistons

Selected third in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons, Grant Hill joined the team after playing four years at Duke University, where he was a two-time All-American and won two National Championships.

His impact for the Pistons was immediate, as the co-NBA Rookie of the Year in 1995. As a Piston, he was a five-time NBA All-Star and made the all-NBA first team in 1997. During his time in Detroit, he averaged 21.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game over six seasons, while also playing on the 1996 Olympic men’s basketball team.

One of the most popular players in the NBA as a Piston, Hill led all players in All-Star game voting his first two seasons. In 1996-97, he became the first player since Larry Bird in 1989-90 to average 20 points, nine rebounds and 7 assists in a season, leading the league in triple doubles and finishing third in Most Valuable Player voting.

Hill left the Pistons after a severe ankle injury in 2000 and went onto play for three other pro franchises. He was elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018.
