Glen Rice was born in Jacksonville, Arkansas but moved to Flint, Mi when he was still a child. Rice attended Flint Northwestern High School and went on to play at the University of Michigan, excelling in his four years on the hardcourt. Rice had an outstanding senior season leading the Wolverines to the 1989 NCAA National Championship while averaging 25.6 points per game and was named the Big Ten Player of the Year, an All-American and the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. He was selected as the number 4 pick in the first round of the 1989 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat. In all, he played for six NBA teams during his 15-year career, helping the Los Angeles Lakers win the 2000 NBA Championship. Rice averaged over 18.3 points per game during his career, being named to three All-Star teams and winning All Star Game MVP honors in 1997. Glen Rice had his #41 jersey retired by the University of Michigan in 2005, was inducted into the U of M Athletic Hall of Honor and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
