Edward Leon (Ed) Budde

Ed Budde was born in Highland Park, MI graduating from Denby High School. He went on to play football at Michigan State earning first-team All-American honors in 1962. He was drafted in the first round by both the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs of the American Football League (AFL). Budde chose the Kansas City Chiefs and was a mainstay for the next 14 seasons playing in 177 games. During his 14-season career, the Chiefs won two AFL Championships, appeared in Super Bowl I and won Super Bowl IV. He was a member of the AFL All-Time team, five-time AFL All-Star and a two-time first-team All-AFL player. Ed Budde is a member of the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. He passed away on December 19, 2023 at 83 years of age.
