Detroit Lions Player (1975 – 1985)
Doug English was born in Dallas, Texas and after graduating from Bryan Adams High School attended the University of Texas where he helped lead the Longhorns to three consecutive Southwest Conference (SWC) titles. The Detroit Lions selected English in the second round of the 1975 NFL Draft. His career lasted 10 seasons where he played in 131 games with the Lions, was named to four Pro Bowls and was a 1992 All Pro. English recorded 59 sacks and had 4 safeties during his Lions career. Doug English was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame, while also being inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
