Detroit Tigers Player (1960 – 1973)
Dick McAuliffe was born in Farmington, Connecticut and graduated from Farmington High School where he won a State Championship in baseball. After high school graduation, he was signed by the Tigers as an amateur free agent and spent three seasons in the Tigers minor league system. He made his major league debut at the end of the 1960 season and spent the next 13 seasons with the Tigers, during which he batted .249 with 192 home runs and 671 RBI. He was a member of the 1968 World Series Champions and was a three-time All-Star. Dick McAuliffe was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1986. He passed away on May 13, 2016 at 76 years of age.
