Regina High School Basketball & Softball Coach and Athletic Director
Diane Laffey was born in Detroit, Michigan. Since the early 1970’s she has served as the head basketball and softball coach as well as the athletic director at Regina High School. During her coaching tenure she has won over 600 basketball games and over 1,100 softball games as well as producing hundreds of athletes that have gone on to further their education in college. She has currently won more softball games than any other coach in Michigan history and has won six MHSAA state championships along with countless Regional and Catholic League championships. In 1991, Laffey was the recipient of the MHSAA Women In Sports Leadership Award presented to the person who makes major contributions to preparing women for positions in athletic administration. She was the third Michigan resident to be inducted into the National Federation of State High School Association’s National High School Hall of Fame. In addition to induction into numerous other Halls of Fame, Diane Laffey was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
