Deanna Nolan

Detroit Shock

A star in high school and professional basketball in Michigan, Nolan first gained notoriety at Flint Northern High School. She led the Vikings to back-to-back State Championships, winning the “Miss Basketball” award as a senior as the state’s top player.

Nolan left Michigan to play college basketball for the University of Georgia, where she helped the Bulldogs to a 86-12 record during her career in Athens, where she was a two-time All-American.

Drafted sixth overall in the 2001 WNBA draft by the Detroit Shock, Nolan played nine years at guard for the franchise. Her professional career included three WNBA Championships, five all-WNBA teams and being named Most Valuable Player in the 2006 WNBA Finals.

Nolan also played internationally for professional teams in Russia and Israel, where she was a part of multiple league championship teams. Nicknamed “Tweety,” Nolan averaged nearly 14 points per game her in WNBA career. She was named to the All 20tth Anniversary WNBA team as one of the greatest players in the league’s history.
