Dean Look was born in Lansing, Michigan, and was a two-sport star at Michigan State, playing baseball and football from 1957 – 1959. In 1958 he earned All-Big Ten recognition in baseball and in 1959 was named an All-American performer in football. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 1960 but did not play with them. He played for the New York Titans (AFL) in 1962 as well as playing professional baseball with the Chicago White Sox in 1961. He then embarked on a 29-year career as an NFL official. Look officiated numerous NFL play-off games including three Super Bowls. Dean Look was inducted into the Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
