Dan Roundfield was born in Detroit, Michigan graduating from Chadsey High School. He attended Central Michigan University where he was twice named a first-team All-Conference player and was the Conference Player of the year in 1975. Roundfield went on to a successful 12-year ABA/NBA playing career with four teams. Known as a strong rebounder and defensive player, he was named to five NBA All-Defensive teams and three All-Star teams, scoring 11,657 points with 7,502 rebounds in his career. His number “32” was retired by Central Michigan University. Dan Roundfield was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. Ten days prior to his induction, Dan Roundfield passed away while trying to save his wife Bernie from drowning while vacationing in Aruba on August 6, 2012 at 59 years of age.
