Dan Majerle was born in Traverse City, Michigan and attended Traverse City Central High School before starring at Central Michigan averaging 21.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per game Dan Majerle as well as being named as a three-time all-Conference selection. He was selected as the number fourteen overall pick in the 1988 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns. Over his 13-year NBA career, Majerle played for four teams, averaging over 11 points and 4 rebounds per game. Majerle was selected to three NBA All-Star teams as well as twice being named to the NBA’s second team All-Defensive team. Since 2013, Majerle has served as the head coach of Grand Canyon University. Dan Majerle’s number 44 was retired by Central Michigan as well as his number 9 being retired by the Phoenix Suns and he was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
