Chuck Daly was born in Kane, Pennsylvania and attended Kane Area High school before moving on to St. Bonaventure prior to graduating from Bloomsburg University. After spending two years in the military he embarked on a coaching career, first at the high school level then on to the collegiate level. Daly spent two seasons at Boston College before moving on to Penn for six seasons. His success at Penn was a springboard to the professional level, first as an assistant then on to the Cleveland Cavaliers before finding his greatest success with the Pistons. Daly led the Pistons for nine seasons playing in the NBA Finals three consecutive years winning two NBA Championships with the “Bad Boys”. Daly was also the head Coach of the “Dream Team” in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics winning a Gold Medal. Chuck Daly was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in two categories in 1994 and in 2010 for the “Dream Team” and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1996. He passed away on May 9, 2009 at 78 years of age.
