Chet Walker was born in Bethlehem, Mississippi, moving to Michigan at a young age before attending Benton Harbor, Michigan High School and graduating from Bradley University where he led the Braves to the 1960 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) championship. Walker was selected in the second round of the 1962 NBA draft by the Syracuse Nationals/Philadelphia 76ers and was a key member of the 1967 NBA Champion Philadelphia 76ers before he moved on to the Chicago Bulls from 1969 – 1975. He was a seven-time All-Star averaging over 16 points per game during his 13-year NBA career. Chet Walker was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012 and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. He passed away on June 8, 2024 at 84 years of age.
