Lynn Chandnois
Michigan State Football, Basketball Player (1946 – 1949)
Lynn Chandnois was born in Fayette, Michigan and as a child moved to Flint, Michigan attending Flint Central High School earning All-State honors in basketball and football. After graduation from high school he spent two years in the U. S. Naval Air Corps before moving on to Michigan State where he starred for four years in football and one in basketball. He was team MVP in 1948, an All-American in 1949 and Michigan’s Outstanding Amateur Athlete in 1950. Chandnois was the number eight overall selection of the 1950 NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, spending his entire seven-year career with the team earning two Pro Bowl selections. Lynn Chandnois was inducted into the MSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1984 and inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. He passed away on February 19, 2011 at 86 years of age.
