Bob Reynolds was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts. He started his career as a sports writer before switching to radio. He moved to WFDF in Flint in the late 1940s. In 1952, Reynolds became the first sports director at WJR radio station and stayed in that position until 1977. He started a 6:15 PM and an 11:15 PM sports show and was given the nickname of “Rapid Robert” by his WJR colleague J.P. McCarthy for his rapid fire reporting. Reynolds broadcast Lions games for 31 years and MSU football games for 21 years. Bob Reynolds was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. He passed away on February 4, 2000 at 85 years of age.
