B. J. Armstrong was born in Detroit, Michigan and attended Brother Rice High School starring in basketball. Armstrong went on to play collegiately at the University of Iowa, where he developed into an outstanding point guard and when his career was complete, finished in the top six in total points, assists, and steals at the University of Iowa.  He was a first round selection in the 1989 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. He went on to play six seasons with the Bulls missing only one game, winning three NBA Championships (1991, 1992, 1993) and was selected as an NBA All Star in 1994. His NBA career continued another five seasons; playing with the Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic before coming full-circle to end his career in 2000 with the Bulls. His number “10” was retired by the University of Iowa.  B. J. Armstrong was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.
