Kayo (K.O.) Morgan

Professional Boxer (1926– 1950)

Kayo (K.O.) Morgan, born Andrew Ettore Esposito in Stamford, Connecticut, was introduced to boxing at the age of 12 by his older brother. Gifted with exceptional foot speed and coordination, Morgan quickly rose through the amateur ranks, compiling a reported undefeated record of 69–0.

Seeking greater opportunities, he moved to the Midwest, settling in the Toledo and Detroit area, where he was managed by the renowned Scotty Baxter. In 1926, Morgan launched his professional career, which would span an impressive 25 years. Officially, he is credited with a professional record of 74 wins and 5 losses, though many believe he fought and won over 400 bouts throughout his career.

Despite defeating numerous champions in non-title matches, Morgan never captured a world championship. His remarkable achievements earned him the nickname “The Uncrowned Champion” from Ring Magazine, a tribute to his dominance in the ring and the respect he commanded.

In recognition of his legacy, K.O. Morgan was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. He passed away on January 5, 1976, at 66 years of age.
