Terry Barr was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan attending Central High School where he where he played football, basketball and ran track winning the state championship in the 440-yard dash in 1952 and 1953. Barr went on to play football at the University of Michigan from 1954 to 1956 and was named the team MVP in 1955 helping the Wolverines compile a 7 – 2 record. He was drafted in the third round of the 1957 NFL draft by the Lions, spending his entire nine-year NFL career with the club. He contributed to the Lions last NFL Championship in 1957 and was named to the Pro Bowl on two occasions. During his nine-year career, Barr appeared in 102 games catching 227 passes for 3,810 yards and 35 touchdowns. Terry Barr was inducted into the University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor in 1994 and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. He passed away on May 28, 2009 at 73 years of age.
