While working for The Detroit News from 1966 to 2008, Mike O’Hara covered the Detroit Lions as the team’s primary beat writer starting in 1977. He covered all of the ups and downs with the team during his tenure with the paper, including 10 different head coaches, a slew of quarterbacks, some Hall of Fame players, an 0-16 season and more, all throughout his attention to about 500 Lions’ games.
After retirement from the News, O’Hara has continued his passion for sports writing via DetroitLions.com. In his role, he contributes upcoming scouting reports, team and player insights and more regarding the NFL franchise.
