Mike (Doc) Emrick
The voice of NHL hockey for a generation of Americans, the longtime resident of St. Clair, called professional hockey games from 1973 until 2020 at the local level in several markets, starting in Port Huron, and on the national level as the lead NHL play-by-play voice for every major network. Nicknamed “Doc” because he holds a Ph.D., Emrick called 22 Stanley Cup Finals on TV, more than any other American broadcaster, along with 14 NHL All Star Games and five Olympic Games.
