Detroit Lions Player (1952 – 1959)
Jim David was born in Florence, South Carolina, he attended Colorado A & M (now known as Colorado State University) where he played football and baseball. He was selected in the 1952 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions and spent eight seasons with the Lions helping them win three NFL championships. He was named to the Pro Bowl six times. He ended his career with 36 interceptions, ranking fifth in Lions history and is generally thought to be one of the greatest Lions football players. After his retirement he was an assistant coach for several years. Jim David was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1997. He passed away on July 29, 2007 at 79 years of age.
