Michigan Media Hall of Fame

Jack Moss was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, attending Kalamazoo State High School before moving on to Western Michigan University. He took on a full-time position with the Kalamazoo Gazette in 1948 where he became Sports Editor in 1967 staying until his retirement in 2002. During his time, Moss made the Kalamazoo Gazette one of the best sports pages in Michigan and for his efforts won nine Associated Press Writing Awards. Moss helped found the Mid-American Conference Media Association. While his regular beat was high school sports, he also covered the University of Michigan, Western Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame. Moss was also able to cover sporting events, such as; the Olympics, World Series, Super Bowls, 21 major college bowl games, the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Finals, Wimbledon, among many other events. Jack Moss was a 1979 inductee into the Michigan Media Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.  He passed away on January 21, 2019 at 91 years of age.
