George Lester Young

George Young was born in Tift County, Georgia. He moved to the Detroit are in the early 1940s where as a member of the E & B Beer and Pfeiffer Beer teams he shared in the World’s Match Game team title seven times and the American Bowling Congress (ABC) title four times. He won Match Game Doubles titles twice and won six overall ABC championships. He was voted the #81 Bowler of the 20th Century. George Young was a member of the ABC Hall of Fame in 1959 was inducted into the Detroit Bowlers Hall of Fame in 1967 and was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1966. He passed away on August 30, 1959 at 51 years of age.
