Dorne Dibble was born in Adrian, Michigan and played football at Michigan State University where he was an All-American defensive end during his senior season in 1950. He was drafted in the third round of the 1951 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He had an outstanding rookie season setting a number of Lions receiving records along the way. After spending the 1952 season in the military, he came back and played the remaining five seasons of his career with the Lions, helping them win NFL Championships in 1953 and 1957. He finished his career with a 17.5 yard per catch average on 146 receptions for 2,552 yards and 19 touchdowns. Dorne Dibble was inducted into Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. He passed away on March 1, 2018 at 88 years of age.
