Donald Andrew “Don” Lund

Don Lund was born in Detroit, Michigan and attended Southeastern High School before moving on to the University of Michigan where he played football, baseball and basketball. He was drafted in both baseball and football, signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1945. He played Major League baseball for three teams, including the Tigers in his seven-year baseball career. After his playing days were over, Lund became the University of Michigan baseball manager for four seasons, winning the 1962 NCAA Championship before moving on to the Tigers to be a coach and farm system director. Don Lund was inducted into the University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor in 1984 and inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. He passed away on December 10, 2013 at 90 years of age.
