Ann Marston was born in London, England winning her first Archery championship at the age of nine. She moved with her family to Wyandotte, Michigan at the age of eleven and won the American Junior Archery Championship, breaking all junior records until 1954 when she began competing in the adult division. She continued to dominate the women’s Archery circuit winning 11 national archery titles. Marston was featured on the cover of many magazines including a cover story in Sports Illustrated while she was still in high school. Archery was just one of her many talents as she was an accomplished dancer, ice skater, horsewoman and skin diver. She won the title of Miss Michigan in 1959 and competed in the Miss America pageant. She was named the Michigan Woman of the Year in 1970. Ann Marston was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1977. She passed away on March 6, 1971 at 32 years of age.
