Aleta Sill

Professional Bowler (1980 – 2001)

Aleta Sill was born in Dearborn Heights, Michigan and attended Crestwood High School. At age 18, while still in high school she started competing in adult bowling leagues in the Detroit area and turned professional at age 18. During the 1980’s and 1990’s she was considered the best women bowler in the country. She was the first woman to top $1 million in earnings at a time when top prize money was only around $3,000. In all, she won 31 titles including the Triple Crown twice. Sill was named the 1984 Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) Player of the Year and 1984 and 1985 Bowling Writer’s Association of America (BWAA) Bowler of the Year. Aleta Sill was inducted into the PWBA Hall of Fame in 1996 and was inducted into Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
